people to help set up and run stalls and games

The Revels are held at the Recreation Ground,next to the Red Lion pub. They have been a tradition in Fernhurst for over 100 years.
On this day the new May Queen is crowned. She is Erin Haigh . She and her attendants Martha Shepherd, Eva Webber ,Naomi Braithwaite and Ella Vigar parade through the village, starting at Napper’s Wood playground
.
She is accompanied by
her entourage which includes garland bearers,

boys, the crown bearer, heralds and the
fancy dress entrants.
At the Recreation Ground the path to her throne
Is scattered with flowers. Following the May Day
Prayer, led by the Vicar,
Erin
will be crowned by
last year’s May Queen Daisy Skelton. Then St George, defends his queen by fighting the Dragon.
Next comes the delightful May Pole Dancing by the Fernhurst Primary School children .
The Fancy Dress competition follows. This year the theme is The Four Seasons.
If you want to take part, just turn up at Napper’s Wood at 12.15
