Julian Lewry Music   Farncombe Music Club

@ St. Johnís Church   St. Johnís Street, Farncombe, Godalming, Surrey GU7 3EJ

Hello
Hope you are having a great summer. With the next two shows already sold out there is lots to tell you about coming up in September and October. All of the upcoming shows are at ST. JOHN'S CHURCH in FARNCOMBE unless specified otherwise:

WEDNESDAY 25th JULY - LAURA CORTESE & THE DANCE CARDS @ HECTOR'S ON THE WEY - SOLD OUT

FRIDAY 27th JULY - FOCUS + special guest, EDGAR BROUGHTON - SOLD OUT

FRIDAY 21st SEPTEMBER - REED MAXFIELD - 4th ALBUM FUNDRAISER - £10 adv / £12 door

Many of you will know Reed Maxfield as Philippa Reed and Chris Maxfield have not only performed a number of times at the church as both headliner and support act but have also helped out on a regular volunteer basis at the concerts over the last few years. This concert is an important evening as it will be helping them raise funds for the recording and release of their 4th album so we are hoping that there will be a large audience as all the net proceeds from the ticket sales will be going to Reed Maxfield. This will be the first opportunity to hear all the songs from the album, most of which will be recorded in the church in August

.

SATURDAY 29th SEPTEMBER - DIRE STRAITS UK (DIRE STRAITS TRIBUTE) - £16 adv / £19 door

Believe it or not, St John's Church in February 2017 was one of Dire Straits UK's very first big shows which started them on the path to some truly memorable shows throughout 2017 and set them up for an explosive 2018. So we're looking forward to welcoming the band back to St John's Church again with a set featuring Dire Straits' hits and album tracks

.

FRIDAY 5th OCTOBER - MARTIN SIMPSON - £16 adv / £19 door

Universally acclaimed as one of the finest ever acoustic and slide guitar players, and a fine banjo-picker to boot, Martin Simpson's solo shows bear witness to an artist at the very top of his game. Whether interpreting material from tradition or singing his own potent self-penned songs, Simpson is a remarkable storyteller: captivating and profoundly moving. The remarkable intimate solo performances Martin gives go from strength to strength - every gig is a masterclass.

SATURDAY 6th OCTOBER - SOUNDS OF SIMON (SIMON & GARFUNKEL TRIBUTE) @ ST. JAMES CHURCH, WEYBRIDGE AND
SATURDAY 13th OCTOBER - SOUNDS OF SIMON (SIMON & GARFUNKEL TRIBUTE) - each show £14 adv / £17 door

Delighted to be promoting back-to-back shows by Sounds of Simon performing their wonderful tribute to Simon & Garfunkel and Paul Simon - from Sounds of Silence to The Rhythm of the Saints. Looking forward to co-promoting them in Weybridge on the 6th with the people from Music at St. James and welcoming them back to Farncombe on the 13th where their previous show in January 2017 was played to a packed audience in the church.

SATURDAY 13th OCTOBER - STILLMARILLION (FISH-ERA MARILLION TRIBUTE) @ FARNHAM MALTINGS - £17 seated / £15 standing

StillMarillion were the first of many bands I have co-promoted with White Mountain Promotions since 2014 and am pleased to be doing so again although I will sadly miss this show in Farnham as I will be busy in Farncombe with Sounds of Simon that evening! StillMarillion are the definitive tribute to Fish era Marillion and set out to capture the atmosphere of those Eighties gigs performing the early Marillion material which is seldom performed by Marillion or Fish these days.

FRIDAY 19th OCTOBER - DAVE NACHMANOFF - £14 adv / £17 door

Dave Nachmanoff is an award-winning singer-songwriter, who, in addition to his own solo career, is the guitarist and harmony vocalist for Al Stewart. Over the course of a dozen albums and countless tours, he has shared the stage with the likes of Alison Krauss and Steve Forbert (among many others), at venues ranging from The Bottom Line in New York and the Royal Albert Hall to the Glastonbury Festival.

SATURDAY 27th OCTOBER - ANDY FAIRWEATHER LOW & THE LOW RIDERS - £25 adv / £30 door SELLING FAST

Little needs to be said about Andy Fairweather Low's popularity in Farncombe with 3 previous packed shows in St. John's Church. This time round Andy will be bringing his Big Band featuring The Hi Riders Soul Revue. We have already sold over 200 tickets for this show so it is expected to possibly sell out in advance. If you want to come please do not hesitate buying tickets...

Hope you are well. Before heading into the upcoming events, just to mention that I have received very positive feedback about the Farncombe Music Club concerts from the most recent meeting of the Farncombe PCC. However there was one request that audience members do not take any food or drinks of any kind into the Church itself during the concerts. This request to include food and other drinks shouldn't inconvenience most of our audience members who either drink alcohol (which isn't allowed to be consumed in the Church in any case) or other drinks or eat food in the Church Room either before the show or during what is a generous 30 minute interval. New notices will be on display at the FMC concerts.
