Members of the Ship’s Company of minehunter HMS Chiddingfold will be cycling from their ship to their namesake village and back again on Wednesday 6 November to raise money for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).
15 of the 45-strong crew will don their lycra to undertake the 80 mile round trip from ship-village-ship in one day.
The group will be leaving the ship at 0900 and get to the village by around midday (weather permitting!), stopping at the Crown for lunch before heading south. They are raising sponsorship prior to the event but will also be collecting donations en route.
The RNRMC improves the lives of all who serve – past and present – and their families. The charity focuses on those who wear uniform today – ships, squadrons, submarines and commandos – and does all it can to boost morale, improve facilities and ease the pressure that life in the Service can bring.
As a grant making charity the RNRMC provides valuable funds for naval and military charities that work with families and veterans, especially those experiencing difficulty with child support, ill-health, old age or hard times.
